Realme, owned by BBK Electronics, the Chinese consumer hardware giant which also owns brands like Vivo and Oppo claimed that it had touched the 200 million mark in the second quarter of this financial year.

As per the data from the market analytics organization Counterpoint Research, only four brands, including Samsung, Apple, Vivo, and Huawei, have taken considerably less time to ship the same quantity of units. To summarize, only 14 brands on a global level have successfully shipped 200 million units of phones to date.

“We came into existence when there were over 700 smartphone brands in the world,”

said Xu Qi, the chief marketing officer of Realme.

“We are extremely proud that we have been able to be in the world’s top 10 brands for the past five years.”

As per Counterpoint Research, there were only 700 mobile phone brands in 2017; a number which has plunged to 250 in the month of September.

Xu further went on to add that

“Realme was ready to take on premium phones with its upcoming launch, the Realme GT 5 Pro, which will be among the first handsets to feature Qualcomm’s latest high-end chip the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Sony’s new Lytia camera sensor.”

Xiaomi’s current release, Xiaomi 14 Pro, also operates on the brand new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
